Work plan strategy

The strategy of the project is first to conduct research extending the knowledge base on the effect of global changes on freshwater plankton, and then, based on the experience gained from the research, provide guidance to monitor less studied ecosystems.

The project is structured into an interdisciplinary suite of 8 work packages (WP's).

The "management" work package, WP1, lead by the coordinator, will coordinate the activities of the project including peer reviewing progress in the project. The work package "dissemination", WP2, will ensure communication, monitor workflow and facilitate dissemination and interaction with interested researchers, and stakeholders through a series of workshops.

The backbone of the research part of the project is the database developed in WP3 that serves as common basis for a full comparison between ecosystems. A suite of work packages, WP4 to WP6, comprises researchers with complementary expertise, which addresses specific part of the planktonic community, and climatic effect. Each work package is lead by key experts. The core of each of these WPs is to conduct analysis on specific food-web compartment at specific scale and provide information for the integrated analysis to be carried for the general inter-site comparisons performed in WP7.

A final work package, WP8, extends the results obtained by proposing a monitoring program in a less studied ecosystems.
